12/5/18from Metairie, LAprofession DentistVerified Buyerwith Orange County DentalMehThe material looks great on paper. It's handling is not that great. No matter how careful you are with incremental buildup, it is very easy to get very large air voids. Doesn't polish very well. About 1/4 of the cartridge is wasted in the mixing tips, and a considerable amount of the cartridge volume is taken up by the overly large plungers. The dispenser gun leaves a lot to be desired -- using anything with a pistol grip reduces the amount of tactile control you have over the syringe. I now only use it as a base, flowable liner under real composite due to all the issue that I have experienced.1 person found this helpful. 4/7/17from Grain Valley, MOprofession DentistVerified Buyerwith DDI SupplyPredictability, strength, beautyThe all in one composite for every indication. No bonding agent needed, great esthetics, and bulk fill. Bioactive materials are here to stay.1 person found this helpful. 10/30/19from Waxahachie, TXprofession DentistVerified Buyerwith Orange County DentalDecent product, occasional bonding problemsThis product received a lot of advertising as self-adhesive, fluoride release, and so on at its introduction. I had the rep visit my office to discuss it as the self-adhesive seemed too good to be true (although with glass ionomers their self adhesive claims do hold up.)
The innovative properties of Activa are bioactive release of calcium, phosphate, flouride that offer ionic bonding to the tooth without need for conventional bonding. However the rep told me that it is fine to bond it if I wanted, which seemed to negate the bioactivity. I have used the product for fillings large and small and the cement version for crowns. I am choosy about where I use it as I have had some larger fillings fail to bond and thus am a bit wary of the cementation durability. I think it is worth keeping in the office since it is dual cure which can be an advantage in compromised locations when a quick light cure is needed without worrying about it curing at full depth with a light. I'd say the jury is out and I keep an eye on updated studies. It has not replaced any product in my office at this time. Was this review helpful to you?Was this review helpful to you?
