with Megadental InternationalSaves a lot of timeI still prefer Alginate, for most cases, however, Alginot is perfect when there is a time crunch, or rather have your lab pour up impressions. A little technique sensitive, but once you get the hang of it, impression come out perfect. Was this review helpful to you?Was this review helpful to you? -

with Hey DentalThe Best ALGINATE ALTERNATIVE of them all!, Excels in Multi-PROSTHETIC USES!*It's primary use to make study models:The various incarnations of PVS Alt's came about, to solve several major short comings of all Alginates: 1.You only can make 1 accurate model from the impression, 2.Your first pour better be soon and better be correct!, 3.The material by nature, will stretch, rip, distort, when the model is removed, and especially when it is asked to capture less than ideal dentition or arch forms: such: undercuts from clinically elongated teeth, jagged, fractured teeth, huge fractured fillings, open embrasures devoid of papillae, open contacts, rotated, drifted, super erupted teeth, or when stock impression trays, do not match the arch form, or peripheral border height to capture edentulous posterior ridges that border areas of dentition. 4.If the model is not poured immediately, alginate distorts. 5.If not removed promptly after the stone sets, the alginate will dehydrate the stone, distorting it, 6.The mixing technique requires a consistent skill level, with an understanding of what to do if a thicker or thinner mix is required, &/or when room temperature, and water temperature is less than ideal.
*PVS to the rescue: 0 learning curve to mix, multiple model pours, delayed pours 2weeks+ after the imp, super accurate (now). The early PVS's were too heavy or too light bodied, didn't flow properly when seated, and distorted whatever was at the open distal end of the tray. Easy to overcome if a solid tray is used, or you taped up 1/2 the openings on the perf'ed trays, and also took a 2nd "wash" inside the 1st impression!
*Alginot FS, has the perfect setting time, the optimal consistency, perfect flow, perfect peripheral capture, and perfect capture of those alginate impossible situations!.
*Prosthetics is where Alginot FS excels: 1.multiple pours to make PreOp models and Custom Waxup models, 2.Use that same impression as a provisional stent, 3.Impression the waxup for a custom provisional stent. Best $ to full satisfaction-result ratio! Was this review helpful to you?Was this review helpful to you? -

with Hey DentalGood for preopsMy office has used Alginot FS for about 1 year. The assistants use is pretty much exclusively for preoperative impressions for Crown and Bridge cases. It has a nice predictable consistency, fills the tray in a couple of seconds, and sets FAST! We do not use it for general purposes simply because it is too expensive for that. Was this review helpful to you?Was this review helpful to you?
