with ODS OnlineHighly Recommend It!This actually comes with two strips per blister @ 1.5x0.75" each. They appear square because each strip is folded in half. Usually, I only use one strip which means that the other has to be wastefully discarded, unfortunately.
I cover the CMC strip with a thin layer of dry socket paste, wrap the whole shebang around the tip of a CLEAN and DRY cotton plier before inserting the CMC into the extraction site. The back of a medium-size spoon or a larger condenser packs the material real nicely, but no need to apply brute force. This technique prevents pretty much any dry socket formation and urgent calls over the weekend!
Keep blood away from the cotton plier, otherwise the CMC will turn into a sticky goey -- good luck handling this blob!
At less than $2 per piece, it's absolutely worth not having post-op headaches! There's no need to buy the 5x more expensive HeliPlugs which perform no better in my hands.1 person found this helpful. Was this review helpful to you?1 person found this helpful. Was this review helpful to you? -

with ODS OnlineExcellent performance at the best price for hemostatic gauzeThis fully resorbable collagen gauze goes into every extraction socket in my practice and has worked well for many years. Dry sockets are almost non-existent. I cut the squares into smaller pieces and prefer to roll up one small piece per root and place into each root socket (don't pack it in tightly); on a molar I also like to place a square over the top of the root sockets. It helps to tuck the top piece under the tissue edges if possible, but it turns to mushy consistency very quickly so this is not always possible (helitape works well over the top of a socket and does not get so mushy.) I have the patient bite on a WET (non-sticky) cotton 2x2 gauze for 20-30 minutes as usual after placement of the EMED gauze. Since the EMED turns to a gel very quickly, place it into the sockets quickly or it may stick to your cotton pliers or whatever you choose to place it with. Anywhere you have a "bleeder" this works to stop it very well. Was this review helpful to you?Was this review helpful to you? -
