This stuff is more chunky than smooth and that leads to almost a chalky consistency. It's not as extreme but the only example that I can think of is like older prophy cup pumice vs new-- new stuff is smooth and older stuff is just lightly dried out and chunkier. That's the reason why I gave these 3 stars. It's harder to load the prophy cup and harder to rinse off. The taste is good and I feel that the coarse is a less aggressive coarse than other brands.
